Installation with Shopify

The line of code below is a sample. Your own line with your ID is in your account.

In the theme code in the file “theme.liquid”, directly above </body>.

Requirement: Access to the Shopify admin with the right to edit themes.

Video, 80 seconds, no sound: the click path as a diagram, step by step. No screenshots; the same steps are below for reading.

Step by step

  1. In the Shopify admin open “Online Store” → “Themes”.
  2. On your current theme click the three dots and first “Duplicate”. That gives you a backup.
  3. Click the three dots again and then “Edit code”.
  4. In the “Layout” folder open the file “theme.liquid”.
  5. Look for the line </body> at the very bottom and paste the line of code directly above it.
  6. Click “Save”.

Your line of code

Good to know

  • According to Shopify, code changes can be lost when a theme is updated. After an update, use “Check installation” to see whether the line is still there.
  • Shopify recommends changing theme code only if you are confident doing so. Otherwise use the button “Create an email to my web designer”.
